Uttarakhand Jobs: 26,000 Created, 10,000 More Expected Soon

DEHRADUN: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced 26,000 government jobs have been created in the state over the last four years. Dhami projected this figure will reach at least 36,000 by next year . He shared these numbers at a press conference on Saturday, marking the start of Uttarakhand’s silver jubilee celebrations.

The Chief Minister stated 10,000 to 12,000 additional recruitments are expected within the next year. These include positions from examinations already conducted. Results for these exams are currently pending.

State’s 25th Anniversary and Legal Reforms

Dhami highlighted significant state achievements as Uttarakhand approaches its 25th anniversary on November 9 . He declared Uttarakhand became the first state to implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) .

The state also enacted several new legal frameworks. These include strong land laws , anti-forced conversion laws , anti-riot laws , and anti-counterfeiting laws . These reforms aim to strengthen governance and legal protections across the state.

Employment Reservations and Economic Growth

Regarding employment benefits, Dhami confirmed specific reservations in government jobs. A 10 percent reservation is allocated for kin of statehood movement fighters. Additionally, 30 percent reservation in government jobs is provided for women. These policies support specific community groups within Uttarakhand.

Since the 2023 Global Investors Summit , Uttarakhand has attracted investments exceeding Rs 1 lakh crore . The state also established a Rs 200 crore venture fund to support new startups. This fosters entrepreneurship and innovation.

The Chief Minister noted considerable economic expansion since the state’s formation. Uttarakhand’s economy has grown 26-fold . Per capita income has increased 17-fold during the same period. For the financial year 2025-26, the state presented a budget exceeding Rs 1 lakh crore . This marked a historic first for Uttarakhand.

Social Welfare Initiatives

Several social welfare schemes are active. Under the Antyodaya Yojana , 1.85 lakh families receive three cooking gas cylinders annually. This initiative assists economically vulnerable households.

The Lakhpati Didi Yojana focuses on women’s empowerment. Through this scheme, 1.65 lakh women have achieved self-reliance. This program facilitates economic independence across the state.

Infrastructure and Connectivity Projects

Major infrastructure and tourism projects are actively progressing. Kedarnath is undergoing significant redevelopment, with construction targeted for completion within one year. This aims to enhance the pilgrimage site.

A comprehensive master plan for Badrinath is underway with a Rs 300 crore budget . Ropeway construction to Kedarnath and Hemkund will also begin soon. These new ropeways will improve accessibility for pilgrims and tourists.

Construction work on 48 ancient temples and gurdwaras in the Kumaon region is proceeding at pace. The Delhi-Dehradun elevated road project is in its final stages. Completion will reduce travel time between Delhi and Dehradun to 2-2.5 hours. Furthermore, 70 percent of the Rishikesh-Karnprayag rail line construction is complete. This rail project will significantly boost regional connectivity.
