The National Medical Commission (NMC) has revised the total MBBS and BDS seats for the 2025-26 academic year, reducing the count by 50. The updated seat matrix lists 1,28,875 medical seats, down from the previously announced 1,28,925. This adjustment affects candidates seeking admission to medical colleges, including AIIMS and JIPMER.
Seat Matrix Adjustments
The NMC’s latest revision shows a net reduction of 50 seats. Earlier, the commission reported adding 11,400 new seats for the upcoming academic year. The current update confirms an addition of 11,350 new seats, creating a 50-seat difference in the total additions. Additionally, 456 seats were reduced during the renewal process for the 2025-26 academic year.
NMC attributed these corrections to typographical errors. The commission specifically cited errors in updating seat numbers for Swaminarayan Institute of Medical Sciences and Research in Gujarat and Viraat Ramayan Institute of Medical Sciences.
