NRI Quota Priority Allotment

Seat allotment for the NRI quota operates on a tiered priority system. Priority 1 candidates receive top consideration, followed by Priority 2 candidates in sequential order.

Priority Level Eligible Candidates
Priority 1 NRI candidates; Children of NRIs.
Priority 2 First-degree relatives of NRI wards: real paternal/maternal uncle/aunt, paternal/maternal grandparents.
Second-degree relatives of NRI wards: first-degree paternal and maternal cousins.

Counselling Delays and Supreme Court Intervention

The MCC announced the NRI quota and reset registration deadlines after a significant delay in the counselling process. The complete schedule for all four rounds of MCC NEET PG 2025 counselling remains unannounced. This delay has prompted concerns from aspirants and doctors regarding the National Medical Commission’s (NMC) operational efficiency.

Aspirants accused the NMC of delaying seat approval, a critical step before counselling begins. Seat approval determines the final seat matrix, which informs choice filling. The Supreme Court is hearing the NEET PG transparency matter today. The court previously granted the National Board of Examinations in Medical Science (NBEMS) two weeks to respond to concerns raised by petitioners. NEET PG aspirants approached the court to demand greater transparency, seeking access to full question papers and official answer keys for the examination.
