Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application window is for foreign national students. Admissions are for the 2026-27 academic year.
The application portal is accessible at international.iitd.ac.in. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026, at 4 p.m.
Eligibility Criteria
Non-Indian nationals can apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees.
Referees will comment on a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English communication skills. This information is detailed in the official notification.
Admission Requirements
Candidates may need to submit scores from national-level entrance examinations. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE awards.
International examination scores are also considered. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
English language proficiency test scores are required. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will admit students based on their interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for interviews. These interviews will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant disciplines.
