Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .
Foreign nationals, including Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) and Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cardholders, are eligible to apply. Applications are open for the academic year 2026-27.
Prospective students must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees for recommendation letters. These referees will assess a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.
Admission Requirements
Candidates may need to submit scores from national-level tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International exam scores like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted.
English language proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Other language tests may also be considered.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their performance in an interview. Applicants with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee in their chosen discipline.
