KOLKATA – The Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIM Calcutta) finalized summer placements for its 62nd MBA batch on October 17 . The institute achieved a 100% placement rate for all 470 students in its MBA program. These placements resulted in a total of 510 offers from various companies.

Summer placements provide MBA students with internships and real-world experience. This year’s placement drive used a hybrid model for interactions. A total of 183 recruiters participated, an increase from the previous year. However, the number of offers slightly decreased.

The average monthly stipend for the 2025 MBA batch was recorded at Rs 1.85 lakh . A stipend is a payment to an intern for their work. The median monthly stipend, the middle value of all stipends, stood at Rs 2 lakh per month .

Students secured a highest domestic monthly stipend of Rs 4.5 lakh . For international opportunities, the top monthly stipend reached Rs 6 lakh .

The top 5 percentile of the placed students received an average monthly stipend of Rs 3.4 lakh .

Recruiter Landscape and Trends

The 2025 summer placement cycle saw an increased number of recruiting organizations, rising to 183 from 175. These firms offered a wide array of cross-functional roles. These roles often span different departments or require diverse skills.

Despite increased recruiter participation, the overall number of job offers extended saw a slight decline. Total offers dropped from 564 in 2024 to 510 for the 2025 batch. IIM Calcutta reported strong support from established partners. It also welcomed several new domestic and global firms. The institute’s alumni network also supported the placement process.

Firms from Consulting, Finance, Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG), Manufacturing, Pharmaceuticals, Software, and Technology sectors participated.

IIM Calcutta credits its “cluster-cohort placement process” for some placement success. This process includes policies like the “dream offer,” aiming to improve student-recruiter fit. The institute stated this approach benefits both parties.
