About This Scholarship
The Women Scientists Scheme (WOS-A) invites applications from women scientists and technologists aged between 27 and 57 years. This initiative aims to provide valuable opportunities for women to pursue research in basic and applied sciences within frontier areas of science and engineering. It is specifically designed to support women scientists who aspire to re-enter the mainstream scientific community and contribute as bench-level scientists.
The scheme offers a substantial research grant and a monthly fellowship. The upper limit of the research grant can be up to INR 30 Lakhs for PhD or equivalent degree holders, INR 25 Lakhs for MTech/MPharm or equivalent, and INR 20 Lakhs for MSc or equivalent qualifications over a period of three years. This grant covers various research expenses including small equipment, consumables, travel, and contingencies.
Fellowship amounts are awarded based on qualifications:
• Applicants with a minimum postgraduate degree equivalent to MSc in Applied/Basic Sciences or BTech or MBBS will receive INR 30,000 per month.
• Those with MTech, MD/MS, DM/MCH in Medical Sciences will receive INR 40,000 per month.
• Applicants holding a PhD in Basic/Applied Sciences will receive the highest fellowship of INR 55,000 per month.
This scheme operates on a continuous basis, meaning applications are accepted throughout the year. There is no specific deadline, allowing interested candidates to apply at their convenience.
Eligibility Criteria
An applicant must meet the following criteria:
• Be a woman scientist or technologist.
• Be aged between 27 and 57 years.
• Possess a PhD or MSc in Basic/Applied Science, MTech, MBBS, MD, MS, MCH/DM in the medical stream, or BTech from a recognised university.
Note: Applicants belonging to SC/ST/OBC and physically challenged categories will receive an age relaxation of 5 years in the eligibility criteria.

How to Apply
The application can be submitted online by following these steps:
1. Read all the details provided on the official website.

3. Click on 'Submit PES Here' and register for the scheme.
4. A login ID and password will be intimated to you through email.
5. Fill in all the required details in the application form and upload the necessary documents.
6. After completely filling the application form, click on the submit button to finalize your application.
