About This Scholarship
The Voluntary Internship Scheme for Law Students 2024 is an initiative by the Institute of Legislative Drafting and Research (ILDR). This program is designed for students pursuing undergraduate law courses, aiming to cultivate their interest in legislative drafting as a professional path.
The scheme provides a valuable opportunity for students to enhance their legislative drafting skills and gain in-depth knowledge about the nature and operations of the Legislative Department. It offers a practical understanding of the legislative process within the Ministry of Law and Justice.
Upon successful completion of the internship, participants will be awarded a certificate of internship by ILDR, recognizing their contribution and learning. A maximum of five interns will be selected at any given time, ensuring a focused and quality experience.
This internship scheme operates throughout the year, offering flexibility for students to apply at a time that suits their academic schedule.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Voluntary Internship Scheme for Law Students 2024, applicants must meet the following criteria:
• Be pursuing the 4th or 5th year of a five-year integrated bachelor's degree in law.
• OR
• Be pursuing the final year of a three-year bachelor's degree in law from recognized law colleges in the country.
Selection Process:
Candidates will be selected based on their performance in a subsequent interview. This ensures that interns are chosen for their aptitude and genuine interest in legislative drafting.
Required Documents
Applicants are required to submit the following documents along with their application:
• A duly filled application form, which must include a recommendation from the Head/Dean/Registrar of their respective educational institution. This ensures institutional endorsement of the applicant.
• A brief note, not exceeding 250 words, detailing the applicant's specific interest in legislative drafting. This note should articulate their motivation and why they wish to participate in the scheme.
