About This Scholarship
The Umbrella Scheme Post-Matric Scholarship for ST Students, Meghalaya 2025-26 is a valuable opportunity provided by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India. This scholarship aims to offer crucial financial support to needy students belonging to the Scheduled Tribe (ST) category who are pursuing their education in classes 11 and above within recognized institutions in Meghalaya.
Selected students will receive a monthly maintenance allowance, which can be up to ₹1,200, along with other associated benefits designed to support their academic journey.
This initiative helps ST students overcome financial barriers, enabling them to pursue higher education and build a better future. The application deadline for this scholarship is October 31, 2025.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible, an applicant must:
• be a citizen of India
• be a domicile of Meghalaya
• belong to the Scheduled Tribe (ST) category
• have passed the Class 10/12 or higher secondary examination from a recognised university or board
• have an annual family income of less than ₹2,50,000
• hold a valid account in a scheduled bank linked to Aadhaar and a mobile number
• not be receiving any other scholarship
Note: The scholarships will be awarded for the study of post-matriculation/post-secondary courses, which must be recognized by the concerned approving authority. These courses should be pursued in the following categories of institutions/universities/colleges:
• All government institutes/colleges/universities
• Institutions of National Importance
• Central university/state university/autonomous colleges recognised by the UGC and universities/colleges recognised under section 2(f) and/or 12(b) of the UGC Act
• Deemed universities
• Private universities recognised by the state/centre with ‘A’ level or equivalent accreditation by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) or National Board of Accreditation (NBA)
• Private professional institutions affiliated with a recognised central/state university
• Schools/colleges recognised by the government/government-aided for Classes 11 and 12
• Diploma-granting institutions as recognised by state/UT governments
• Vocational training institute affiliated with the National Council of Vocational Training (NCVT)
• Institutions affiliated/approved by the appropriate bodies, like MCI/AICTE or any regulatory body established by the state/centre as the approving authority for a particular course.
Required Documents
Applicants are required to submit the following documents:
• A passport-size photograph of the student
• Domicile certificate
• Academic transcripts of previous qualifying examinations, including certificates, diplomas, degrees, etc.
• ST certificate duly signed by an authorised Revenue Officer (RO), not below the rank of Tehsildar
• An income certificate for parent(s)/guardian(s) issued by the authority as decided by the state government
• A receipt in acknowledgement of the scholarship in the previous year (if applicable)
• Disability certificate (if applicable)
How to Apply
Eligible applicants can apply by following these steps:
1. Click on the 'Apply Now' button on the official website.
2. Click on the 'Register' button and fill in the required registration details.
• If already registered, log in using Gmail/Mobile number/Email ID.
3. Navigate to the 'Students' option on the left-hand side of the dashboard and click on it.
4. Now, click on the 'Login' button under the OTR option, as it is required to apply for a scholarship on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).
5. Click on the 'New user? Register yourself' on the left-hand side of the dashboard and click on it.
6. Read the details carefully, tick the checkbox, and click on the 'Next' button.
7. Enter a functional mobile number, captcha code, and OTP, then submit to complete the registration process.
8. Fill in the required details and click on 'Save & Register' to complete the 'One-time registration (OTR)' process.
• This is a temporary registration number; students need to download the OTR mobile application for face authentication to complete the OTR process.
9. After successful registration, navigate to the 'Apply for Scholarship' option and click on the 'Login' button.
10. Select the scholarship, fill in the required details, upload the necessary documents and submit.
Note: All applicants are advised to fill in the information correctly on the application form. Once the application is submitted, no changes can be made. Additionally, submitting multiple applications will result in disqualification.
