About This Scholarship

The Scoville Peace Fellowship 2026 presents a unique opportunity for graduates with a profound interest in international peace and security issues. This fellowship is supported by the Carnegie Corporation of New York and John D. and Catherine T., aiming to foster careers in public-interest work.

Selected fellows will acquire invaluable practical knowledge and hands-on experience by collaborating with prominent nonprofit, public-interest organizations dedicated to these critical global challenges. This experience is designed to prepare individuals for impactful careers in public-interest organizations, government, academia, or media.

The selection process is comprehensive, starting with a meticulous screening of applications by a dedicated board of directors. Candidates who successfully pass this initial review will then be invited for an interview, which is the final stage in determining the fellowship recipients.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible, an applicant must meet the following criteria:

• Have received a bachelor’s or master’s degree within the past few years.
• Possess a strong background and keen interest in one or more of the approved policy issues covered by the fellowship.
• Demonstrate excellent academic accomplishments.
• Have strong written and oral communication skills.
• Preferably have prior experience in public-interest activism or advocacy.
• Be considering a career focused on international peace and security issues within public-interest organizations, the Federal Government, academia, or media.
• If a non-U.S. citizen, must currently be living in the U.S. with a valid U.S. work visa covering the full duration of the fellowship.
• Have completed a baccalaureate degree by the time the fellowship commences.
• Cannot be a non-U.S. citizen residing outside the United States.
• Must not intend to utilize the fellowship for independent research purposes in Washington, D.C.
