About This Scholarship
The Post-Matric Scholarships for SC Students, Punjab 2025-26 is a significant initiative offered by the Department of Social Justice, Empowerment & Minorities, Government of Punjab. This scholarship aims to provide crucial financial assistance to Scheduled Caste (SC) students who are pursuing their education at the post-matriculation or post-secondary stage, covering students from Class 11 and above. Selected students will receive substantial financial support, which includes a comprehensive maintenance allowance and other grants, structured as follows for 10 months:
• Group I Courses: This includes degree and postgraduate level courses in fields such as Medicine, Engineering, Technology, Planning, Architecture, Design, Fashion Technology, Agriculture, Veterinary & Allied Sciences, Management, Business Finance/Administration, and Computer Science/Applications. It also covers postgraduate diploma courses in various branches of management & medicine, C.A./I.C.W.A./C.S./I.C.F.A. (applicable at day scholar rate only ₹550/month), M.Phil, Ph.D, and Post-Doctoral Programmes (D.Lit., D.Sc., etc.), as well as L.L.B, Integrated L.L.B, and L.L.M.
• Hostellers: ₹1,200 per month
• Day Scholars: ₹550 per month
• Group II Courses: Professional courses leading to Degree, Diploma, or Certificate in areas like Pharmacy (B.Pharma), Nursing (B.Nursing), BFS, other paramedical branches (rehabilitation, diagnostics), Mass Communication, Hotel Management & Catering, Travel/Tourism/Hospitality Management, Interior Decoration, Nutrition & Dietetics, Commercial Art, Financial Services (e.g., Banking, Insurance, Taxation). These are courses for which the entrance qualification is minimum Sr. Secondary (10+2), as well as Vocational stream, ITI courses, and Polytechnics where entrance qualification is Class 12 or above.
• Hostellers: ₹820 per month
• Day Scholars: ₹530 per month
• Group III Courses: Graduate and Postgraduate courses not covered under Group I & Group II, such as B.A/B.Sc/B.Com, M.A/M.Sc/M.Com/M Ed./M.Pharma, etc.
• Hostellers: ₹570 per month
• Day Scholars: ₹300 per month
• Group IV Courses: All post-matriculation level non-degree courses for which the entrance qualification is High School (Class 10), including Senior Secondary Certificate (Classes 11 and 12, both general and vocational stream), ITI courses, and 3-year diploma courses in Polytechnics.
• Hostellers: ₹380 per month
• Day Scholars: ₹230 per month
In addition to the maintenance allowance, students will also receive reimbursement for compulsory non-refundable fees.
Students with disabilities are eligible for further additional allowances as follows:
• Reader Allowance: ₹240 per month (Groups I and II), ₹200 per month (Group III), and ₹160 per month (Group IV).
• Transport Allowance: Up to ₹160 per month for students not residing in the hostel on the educational institution's premises.
• Escort Allowance: ₹160 per month for severely handicapped day scholar students with low extremity disabilities.
• Special Payment for Helper: An allowance of ₹160 per month is admissible to any hostel employee willing to assist a severely orthopedically handicapped student residing in the hostel who requires a helper.
• Extra Coaching Allowance: ₹240 per month is provided for mentally retarded and mentally ill students.
It is important to note that disabled students belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC) category covered under this scheme may also be eligible for additional benefits offered by other government schemes. Disability, as defined under the relevant Act, must be certified by a competent medical authority of the State Government or Union Territory Administration.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Post-Matric Scholarships for SC Students, Punjab 2025-26, applicants must meet the following criteria:
• Be a domicile of Punjab.
• Belong to the Scheduled Caste (SC) category.
• Be currently studying in a recognised post-matric course at a recognised institution.
• Have successfully passed the matriculation, higher secondary, or any higher examination from a recognised university or board of secondary education.
• Possess an annual family income of less than ₹2,50,000 from all sources.

Required Documents

• If parent(s)/guardian(s) are employed, they must obtain an income certificate directly from their employer.
• For any additional income sources, employed parent(s)/guardian(s) are required to obtain a consolidated certificate from a revenue officer covering all such sources.
• A disability certificate, if applicable. This is only required for students with disabilities.
• Academic transcripts, including marksheets, certificates, and diplomas of the previous qualifying examination.
