About This Scholarship
The Aryabhatta Research Institute of Observational Sciences (ARIES), located in Uttarakhand, is actively inviting applications from qualified PhD degree holders for its esteemed Post-Doctoral Fellowship program. This fellowship is meticulously designed to offer crucial financial support to fellows, enabling them to conduct advanced Post-Doctoral research.
The primary focus areas for this research are the vital fields of Astronomy & Astrophysics or Atmospheric Sciences. This initiative aims to foster significant scientific contributions and cultivate expertise within these specialized domains.
Successful candidates selected for this program will receive a substantial fellowship amount on a monthly basis, providing them with the necessary resources to dedicate themselves fully to their research endeavors.
Applications for this fellowship are accepted on an ongoing basis throughout the year. However, the selection of candidates is organized into two specific cycles to ensure a structured and thorough review process:
• PDF-I Cycle: This cycle considers all applications that have been received before January 31st.
• PDF-II Cycle: This cycle reviews applications that are submitted before July 31st.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered eligible for the Post-Doctoral Fellowship at ARIES, applicants must meet the following criteria:
• Hold a PhD degree from a university or institute that is duly recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The PhD must be in the specialized fields of Astronomy and Astrophysics or Atmospheric Sciences.
• Be not more than 35 years old on the final date of submission of the application. This age limit is strictly enforced for all applicants.
Required Documents
Applicants are required to submit a comprehensive set of documents to support their fellowship application. Please ensure all documents are up-to-date and accurately reflect your qualifications and research plans:
• An updated Curriculum Vitae (CV) detailing your academic history, research experience, publications, and any relevant professional achievements.
• A brief summary of your PhD work, presented in a concise manner and not exceeding one page in length. This summary should highlight the key findings and contributions of your doctoral research.
• A detailed research proposal, which should be no more than two pages. This proposal must clearly outline your intended research project, demonstrating how it will utilize the facilities and resources available at ARIES.
• Recommendation letters from five different researchers. These letters should speak to your academic abilities, research potential, and suitability for a Post-Doctoral Fellowship.
