About This Scholarship
The Physical Research Laboratory (PRL) invites applications for its Post-Doctoral Fellowship 2020 from eligible PhD candidates. This prestigious fellowship aims to promote advanced post-doctoral research across various scientific and engineering disciplines within the laboratory.
Selected fellows will receive substantial financial support along with other benefits. The monthly stipend varies based on the applicant's academic status and experience:
• INR 47,000/• per month for scholars who have submitted their PhD thesis but are awaiting the formal degree.
• INR 49,000/• per month for applicants holding a PhD degree, with this amount potentially increasing from the day the PhD degree is formally awarded.
• INR 54,000/• per month for external Post-Doctoral Fellowship (PDF) applicants who hold a PhD degree and possess two or more years of PDF/Research Associate experience. An experience certificate will be required at the time of application.
In addition to the monthly stipend, fellows will receive an Academic Allowance of INR 10,000/• (one-time during the PDF tenure) and accommodation benefits.
The selection process for this fellowship is conducted on a quarterly basis, with specific deadlines for application submission:
• For January 2nd week selection: Deadline for receiving application • 30th November 2020
• For April 2nd week selection: Deadline for receiving application • 28th February 2020
• For July 2nd week selection: Deadline for receiving application • 31st May 2020
• For October 2nd week selection: Deadline for receiving application • 31st August 2020

Eligibility Criteria
To be considered eligible for the Physical Research Laboratory Post-Doctoral Fellowship, applicants must fulfill the following criteria:
• Possess a doctorate (PhD) degree, or have successfully submitted their thesis for a PhD, in any recognized field of Science or Engineering.
• Hold Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Science or Engineering with a strong academic record, specifically achieving first class (60%) or equivalent grades at both the Bachelor’s and Master’s levels.
• Be not more than 35 years of age at the time of application.
These requirements ensure that candidates have a strong foundational academic background and are within the appropriate career stage for post-doctoral research.
Required Documents
Applicants are required to submit the following documents to support their application for the fellowship:
• A scanned copy of the application completed in the prescribed format.
• An abstract of their PhD thesis, providing a concise summary of their doctoral research.
• A comprehensive list of all publications, highlighting their research contributions.
• A detailed research proposal, not exceeding 2,000 words. This proposal should be developed in close consultation with the proposed supervisor at the Physical Research Laboratory (PRL), demonstrating a clear research plan and alignment with PRL's objectives.
• A detailed bio-data (curriculum vitae) that includes comprehensive information on their educational qualifications, age, and relevant work experience.
• Reference letters from individuals who can attest to the applicant's academic capabilities and research potential.
For external PDF applicants seeking the higher stipend, an experience certificate verifying two or more years of PDF/Research Associate experience will be mandatory at the time of application.
