About This Scholarship

The Pre-Matric Scholarship for SC Students (Class 9 & 10), Sikkim 2025, is a significant initiative by the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India. This scholarship aims to provide crucial financial assistance to students from the Scheduled Caste (SC) category who are currently pursuing their studies in Class 9 and 10.

Its primary objective is to actively reduce the dropout rates among SC students during the critical transition from the elementary to the secondary stage of education.

Key Benefits:

Selected students will receive a consolidated academic allowance, structured as follows:
Day Scholar: ₹3,500 per annum
Hosteller: ₹7,000 per annum

Additionally, Divyang (disabled) students will be granted a 10% extra allowance. The definition of disability aligns with the relevant Section of the Rights of Persons with Disability Act, 2016. Certifying authorities, designated by the appropriate Government, will issue disability certificates.

Important Notes:
• The scholarship award is contingent upon satisfactory academic performance.
• Students must maintain a minimum of 75% attendance in every academic year to continue receiving benefits.

Application Deadline: The last date to apply for this scholarship is 31 October 2025.

Selection Criteria: Candidates will be selected based on their merit and strict adherence to the defined eligibility criteria.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible, an applicant must fulfill the following criteria:

• Be an Indian citizen.
• Be a domicile of Sikkim.
• Belong to the Scheduled Caste (SC) category.
• Be a full-time student in Class 9 or 10 from a recognized institution.
• Have a family income of less than ₹2,50,000 per annum.

Required Documents

Required documents for the application process include:

• One passport-size photograph with the student's signature.
• Self-attested copies of certificates and mark sheets for previously passed examinations.
• A certificate of caste, which must be signed by an authorized Revenue Officer, not below the rank of Tehsildar.
• The income certificate of the parents.
• Academic transcripts, including marksheets and certificates.

How to Apply

Eligible applicants can apply for the scholarship by following these steps:

1. Step 1: Click on the 'Apply Now' button on the official website.
2. Step 2: Click on the 'Register' button and proceed to fill in the required registration details. (Note: If you are already registered, log in using your Gmail, Mobile number, or Email ID).
3. Step 3: Navigate to the 'Students' option located on the left-hand side of the dashboard and click on it.
4. Step 4: Now, click on the 'Login' button under the OTR (One-Time Registration) option. This step is essential for applying for a scholarship on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).
5. Step 5: Click on the 'New user? Register yourself' link on the left-hand side of the dashboard.
6. Step 6: Carefully read all the details, tick the checkbox to confirm, and then click on the 'Next' button.
7. Step 7: Enter a functional mobile number, the displayed captcha code, and the OTP (One-Time Password) you receive. Submit these details to complete the initial registration process.
8. Step 8: Fill in all the necessary information and click on 'Save & Register' to finalize the 'One-time registration (OTR)' process. (Note: This initial registration provides a temporary registration number. Students must download the OTR mobile application for face authentication to fully complete the OTR process).
9. Step 9: After successful registration, proceed to the 'Apply for Scholarship' option and click on the 'Login' button.
10. Step 10: Select the specific scholarship you wish to apply for, fill in all the required details accurately, upload the necessary documents, and finally, submit your application.

Important Note: All applicants are strongly advised to meticulously fill in all information on the application form correctly. Once an application is submitted, no further changes can be made. Furthermore, submitting multiple applications will lead to immediate disqualification.
