The National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO) Internship Programme 2024 offers a valuable opportunity for students pursuing undergraduate, postgraduate, M.Phil., and Ph.D. degree courses across various disciplines. This initiative, launched by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, aims to engage bright minds in areas relevant to public health and HIV/AIDS control.

Selected interns will receive a monthly stipend of ₹8,000 upon successful completion of the internship, along with a certificate of completion. On-site interns will also be provided with essential logistical support, including seating arrangements, stationery, and access to photocopiers/printers to facilitate their work. However, candidates are required to arrange their own laptops and internet connectivity.

Applications for this internship are accepted once during a financial year, subject to the availability of positions. All submissions undergo thorough scrutiny by the Ministry's Internship Committee. Selected candidates will be notified accordingly. The Committee reserves the right to conduct personal interactions or interviews, either in person or via electronic media such as phone or Skype, and to verify all original documents. The decisions made by the Committee are final, and no further queries will be entertained once the selection process is complete.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the NACO Internship Programme, an applicant must fulfill the following criteria:

• Be an Indian national.
• Be pursuing undergraduate, postgraduate, M.Phil., or Ph.D. degree courses in relevant disciplines from a recognized and reputed university. Applicable disciplines include Preventive & Social Medicine, Public Health, Health Management, Statistics, and Social Sciences.

Important Note: Preference will be given to applicants demonstrating outstanding academic achievements, particularly research scholars. Additionally, candidates possessing project experience that is directly relevant to NACO's activities or aligns with the National AIDS Control Programme (NACP) will be highly considered.

Required Documents

Candidates are required to submit the following essential documents as part of their application and at the time of joining:

• A duly filled application form.
• A comprehensive Curriculum Vitae (CV).
• An introduction letter from the Head of the Institution where the applicant studied or is currently studying, presented on official stationery.
• A No-objection certificate from the University or Institution, if the internship is to be pursued concurrently with an ongoing academic course.
Self-attested certificates and transcripts for all educational qualifications and accomplishments mentioned in the application form.
• A write-up not exceeding 500 words on the topic: "How the student’s academic pursuit as well as the National AIDS Control Programme will benefit from this Internship." Applications submitted without this specific write-up will not be accepted.
Copies of at least three documentary proofs of identity. For Indian nationals, this should include a copy of the passport and either an Aadhaar card, Voter ID, or PAN Card. For OCI card holders, documents required are a passport, OCI card, and a National Identity Card.
