About This Scholarship
The ESSO-NCESS Junior Research Fellowship 2024 is an initiative by the National Centre for Earth Science Studies (NCESS), operating under the Earth System Sciences Organization (ESSO) of the Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India. This fellowship is designed for eligible candidates who have successfully qualified for CSIR-UGC NET-JRF or hold a DST INSPIRE Fellowship.
Selected fellows will receive substantial financial support. A consolidated monthly stipend of ₹25,000 is provided for the initial two years, which then increases to ₹28,000 per month for subsequent years.
In addition to the stipend, fellows will also benefit from admissible House Rent Allowance (HRA) and other allowances as applicable. A contingent grant is made available to support fieldwork throughout the fellowship tenure, which is renewable for up to 10 years, providing long-term research opportunities.
Applications for this prestigious fellowship are accepted throughout the year, offering flexibility for prospective candidates. Interviews are generally conducted two or three times annually, typically after the official declaration of the CSIR-UGC NET results.
