The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) began the Class 12 board examinations today, February 12. Over 7.1 lakh students are appearing for the exams across the state. The WB Uchha Madhyamik exams will conclude on February 27.
Exam Schedule and Logistics
The pen-and-paper exams for semester 3, 4, and supplementary papers commenced today. They are scheduled daily from 10 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. in a single shift. Exams are being conducted at approximately 2,100 locations statewide. Students must arrive at their exam centers 30 minutes before the reporting time for verification and frisking procedures.
The WBCHSE administered language papers, including Bengali, English, Hindi, Nepali, Urdu, Santhali, Odia, Telugu, Gujarati, and Punjabi, on the first day of the examinations.
Exam Day Guidelines
Students must carry their school-issued registration certificate and a government-issued photo ID or school ID card to the exam venue. Admit cards are mandatory; students without their WB Class 12 board exam admit card will not be permitted entry into the examination hall.
The WBCHSE has implemented strict measures for a fair and transparent examination process. CCTV surveillance is active at all exam locations. Over 100 exam centers are designated as “sensitive” and are under enhanced monitoring.
Prohibited Items
Electronic devices, written notes, bags, and smartwatches are strictly prohibited inside examination venues. Only students appearing for the Higher Secondary Examination under the “Old System” are permitted to bring and use a scientific calculator for normal calculations, including trigonometric, exponential, and logarithmic functions.
