Uttarakhand Students, Teachers Sing Vande Mataram on Constitution Day

DEHRADUN – Over 20 lakh students, teachers, and staff across Uttarakhand’s educational institutions collectively sang "Vande Mataram" on Constitution Day , celebrated on Wednesday. The event saw widespread participation from government and private schools, colleges, and other learning centers throughout the state.

Statewide Participation Confirmed

Director of Secondary Education, Mukul Sati, who also served as the State Coordinator for the ‘Vande Mataram’ mass singing programme, released specific figures. Sati confirmed that a precise total of 20,12,652 individuals participated in the collective singing. This number included students, teachers, and various officers and employees affiliated with the educational sector.

The singing commenced simultaneously across Uttarakhand at 9:30 AM. Beyond students and educators, the event garnered involvement from parents, other officials, employees, and local public representatives. This broad participation underscored the collective nature of the Constitution Day observance.

Broad Educational Reach

The initiative extended its reach across the entire spectrum of education in Uttarakhand. Sati clarified that the program was not limited to traditional school settings. It also actively included institutions dedicated to higher education, medical education, technical education, and Sanskrit education. This ensured comprehensive participation from diverse academic fields.

Discussions on National Values

Following the rendition of the national song, educational institutions organized sessions. Teachers and public representatives led discussions to highlight the historical context and importance of "Vande Mataram." These sessions also emphasized the fundamental principles and significance of Constitution Day for students and attendees.

The aim was to deepen understanding of the nation’s constitutional framework and the legacy of its patriotic songs. These discussions served as an educational component, reinforcing civic awareness among the youth.

Minister Highlights Patriotism and Unity

Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat, Uttarakhand’s Education and Health Minister, addressed the significance of the mass singing event. Minister Rawat stated that "Vande Mataram" has historically been an inspiring song. He noted its crucial role in uniting all Indians during the independence movement.

According to Minister Rawat, the collective singing of the song on Constitution Day aimed to instill a renewed sense of consciousness among young people. He specified this consciousness encompassed patriotism, unity, a strong sense of duty, and adherence to constitutional ideals. The minister emphasized the event’s role in connecting youth with national values and historical heritage.

Observing Constitution Day

Constitution Day , also known as Samvidhan Divas, is observed annually to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India. On November 26, 1949, the Constituent Assembly adopted the Constitution, which came into effect on January 26, 1950. The mass singing initiative in Uttarakhand served as a significant public observance of this foundational day for the Indian republic.
