Jhunjhunwala completed his early schooling in Muzaffarpur. He later moved to Delhi for higher studies. After completing schooling at Delhi Public School, he finished Class 12 at GD Mother School in Muzaffarpur. There, he topped the CBSE Bihar board examinations.

According to his maternal uncle, Arun Kumar, Jhunjhunwala studied 12 to 14 hours daily for the exam. He has been academically strong since childhood. He remained focused on his goal of joining the civil services.
