Important Guidelines for Candidates

The UPSC has clarified its policy regarding schedule changes. Requests to alter the date and time of the Personality Test will generally not be entertained. Candidates must adhere to their allotted schedule. Thorough preparation is essential for this final stage of selection. The personality test assesses a candidate’s mental aptitude, social traits, and integrity.

Candidates traveling for the interviews are eligible for reimbursement of their travel expenses. This reimbursement is strictly limited to the cost of second-class or sleeper-class train fare. The UPSC does not cover air travel expenses under this provision.

Claiming Travel Reimbursement

To claim travel reimbursement, candidates must provide specific documentation. This process ensures accurate compensation. Follow these steps:

  • Submit hard copies or printouts of both onward and return journey tickets.
  • Ensure these tickets clearly display the fare details.
  • Complete the prescribed TA Contribution Claim Form.
  • Submit the filled form in duplicate.

The necessary TA bill forms are available for download on the UPSC’s official website. Candidates can access these forms atupsc.gov.in/forms-downloads. Accurate completion of these forms and attachment of all required ticket proofs are mandatory for processing claims.

About the Civil Services Examination

The Civil Services Examination (CSE) stands as India’s premier national-level examination. The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts it annually. Its purpose is to recruit highly skilled officers for the All India Services and a range of Central Civil Services. These services include the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), and Indian Foreign Service (IFS), among many others. The entire selection process is rigorous, comprising three distinct stages: the preliminary examination, the main examination, and finally, the personality test or interview. Success in this final stage determines entry into these crucial administrative roles.
