The University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES), Dehradun, has opened registration for its Management Entrance Test (UPESMET) 2026. The application deadline for MBA admissions is January 20 . Interested candidates must apply online through the official UPES website.

Application Process

Exam Format and Schedule

The UPESMET 2026 entrance exam will be conducted entirely online. It incorporates remote proctoring technology, allowing candidates to take the test from home. The examination has a fixed duration of two hours. The test window for appearing in the exam is from 10 am to 2 pm on the designated exam day.

Eligibility Criteria

General eligibility for UPES MBA programs requires candidates to possess a bachelor’s degree. The degree must be from a recognized university with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks. Applicants must also have secured at least 50% marks in both their Class 10 and Class 12 examinations. For the specific MBA in Strategic Financial Management program, a higher minimum of 60% marks in the graduation degree is compulsory. All academic prerequisites must be fulfilled by the specified application deadline.

Alternative Admission Routes

Candidates with valid scores from certain national-level management entrance exams can qualify for direct admission rounds. These applicants are shortlisted directly for the Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI) rounds, bypassing the UPESMET exam. Acceptable scores include a minimum of 70 percentile in MAT or CMAT 2025. A 50 percentile in CAT or XAT is also recognized. For GMAT, a score of 400 marks or higher is required. NMAT 2024-25 scores of 120 marks or above are additionally accepted for direct entry consideration.

UPESMET 2026 Exam Pattern

The UPESMET 2026 question paper is structured into four distinct sections. Each section comprises 35 questions, totaling 140 questions for the entire exam. Every question carries one mark, making the maximum score 140. The distribution of questions across sections is detailed below:
