UP Police Constable: Aspirants Demand Age Relaxation Amid Delays

Aspirants seeking positions with the Uttar Pradesh Police are urgently demanding a three-year age relaxation. They also call for the immediate release of the Constable recruitment notification. Candidates allege sustained delays by the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (UPPRPB) have rendered many ineligible due to current age limits.

The issue has gained significant traction, especially on social media platforms. Thousands of prospective recruits have voiced their concerns about becoming overage while awaiting the recruitment cycle. The hashtag #UP_Constable_Vacancy trended widely on X, accumulating over 52,000 posts. This online movement reflects widespread anxiety among job seekers in the state.

Demand for Age Relaxation

The central demand from aspirants is a three-year increase to the existing age limits. This relaxation, they argue, is necessary to compensate for several “lost years” due to what they describe as repeated and prolonged delays in the recruitment process. Many candidates who were eligible for previous cycles have now surpassed the maximum age stipulated for the constable posts, effectively ending their opportunity to join the police force.

This situation creates a critical barrier for a substantial number of individuals whose career aspirations rely on this recruitment. For those who dedicated years to preparing for these exams, becoming overage means immediate disqualification from a desired public service career path without ever having the chance to apply.

Current Eligibility Criteria

Under the existing eligibility framework, candidates must meet specific academic and age requirements. All applicants must have successfully passed Class 12. For male candidates, the age requirement is between 18 and 25 years . Female candidates are eligible to apply if they are between 18 and 28 years old.

The requested three-year age relaxation would adjust these limits. If approved, male candidates could apply up to 28 years of age, and female candidates up to 31 years . Aspirants believe this adjustment is a fair response to the unforeseen delays that have impacted their eligibility windows.

Anticipated Recruitment Timeline

According to previous indications, the UP recruitment process was slated to commence in December 2025 . The deadline for application submission was then projected for January 2026 . However, the current situation highlights a discrepancy between these anticipated dates and the aspirants’ immediate concerns over ongoing delays and their eligibility.

Scope of Vacancies and Selection Process

The forthcoming recruitment drive is expected to fill a substantial number of roles across various police departments. These positions include civil police constable, PAC constable, special security force (SSF) constable, jail warden, mounted police, PAC armed constable, and women constable.

The selection process for these posts is comprehensive. It begins with a written examination, assessing candidates’ knowledge and aptitude. Following this, qualified individuals must pass a physical efficiency test. Subsequent stages involve thorough document verification to confirm credentials, concluding with a medical examination to ensure fitness for duty.

Government Response Awaited

Aspirants have explicitly appealed to the Uttar Pradesh government to intervene. They urge officials to expedite the release of the UP Police Constable application form. Their demand for age relaxation remains a primary focus of this appeal.

Social media posts reflect this urgency. One X user commented, “Candidates are becoming overage while waiting for the new recruitment.” Another post urged collective action: “Police recruitment notification be issued and Age limit relaxation be granted.” As of now, the UPPRPB has not issued the official UP Police Constable notification.
