The Uttar Pradesh NEET UG 2025 Round 3 seat allotment result has been postponed. The Department of Medical Education and Training, Uttar Pradesh (DME UP), announced the deferral. The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) issued instructions leading to this decision.
The MCC’s directive aligns with a Supreme Court order. This order originates from contempt petition no. 289 of 2022 in WP No. 223 of 2022, titled Shubhankar Patnaik Vs. K. Ramesh Reddy & Ors. The Supreme Court mandated all state counselling committees to filter out candidates who have already secured medical or dental seats through the All India Quota (AIQ).
Purpose of the Postponement
This postponement ensures fairness in the admission process. State-level counselling rounds for MBBS and BDS courses typically occur after AIQ seat allotments conclude. This structured approach prevents several issues within medical admissions.
The primary goals are to prevent seat blocking and multiple seat allotments to a single student. Such practices can deprive other eligible candidates of their opportunity to join medical colleges. The Supreme Court’s intervention reinforces the need for a transparent and equitable allocation system.
The MCC has informed DME UP that the resignation window for AIQ seats has now closed. Consequently, state counselling authorities must remove all candidates who have accepted and joined AIQ seats. This step is critical before processing any further state quota allotments. It ensures that only candidates eligible for state seats are considered, maintaining the integrity of the state-level counselling.
Counselling Schedule Adjustments
The UP NEET Round 3 counselling schedule has seen multiple revisions. These adjustments primarily resulted from extensions in the MCC NEET UG counselling timeline. The National Medical Commission (NMC) also contributed to these changes. The NMC added new MBBS seats for the 2025-26 academic year. This addition extended the third round admission process across various states to accommodate the increased capacity.
The MCC will make the final list of candidates who joined AIQ Round 3 seats available to state authorities. This data will be accessible after November 1, 2025 . State counselling bodies, including DME UP, will download this essential information from the MCC’s official data sharing portal. DME UP will then use this comprehensive list to accurately filter out candidates who are no longer eligible for state quota seats.
Candidate Pool and Available Seats
Initially, 34,556 candidates qualified to participate in the UP NEET UG Round 3 counselling. These candidates were competing for a total of 962 MBBS seats . DME UP will update its merit list and eligibility based on the newly available AIQ joined-candidate data. This revision will refine the pool of eligible candidates for the state quota seats.
The revised eligibility list ensures that only candidates who have not yet secured an AIQ seat remain in contention for state counselling. This strict adherence to guidelines promotes a fair distribution of limited medical and dental college seats. It also provides clarity to remaining eligible candidates about their prospects.
Expected Allotment Timeline
Given the MCC’s data release schedule, the UP NEET UG Round 3 allotment results are now anticipated in the first week of November 2025 or later. Officials have not yet released a definitive tentative date for the announcement. Candidates are advised to regularly monitor the official DME UP website for immediate updates and further instructions.
