The Governor’s remarks occurred during a meeting at Raj Bhavan in Lucknow. Dr A P J Abdul Kalam Technical University presented its digital examination ecosystem. University officials outlined measures for exam integrity.
Ensuring Exam Integrity
The university detailed its digital system designed for transparency. Officials confirmed live monitoring of all examination halls. This surveillance uses CCTV cameras linked to the university’s central command centre. The system aims to prevent cheating. It upholds fairness and security throughout examinations.
Governor Patel reiterated parental engagement is crucial. She stressed direct conversations with parents uncover underlying issues. Such discussions can address student pressures or challenges. This prevents future instances of malpractice.
Lessons from Gujarat
Governor Patel drew upon her experience as a former minister and chief minister in Gujarat. She recalled students facing extreme distress after Class 10 and 12 exam results. Some students, she noted, developed suicidal thoughts after academic failures.
During her tenure, Patel personally intervened in such cases. She engaged with affected students and their parents. She also reviewed many answer sheets. Many sheets contained significant portions of blank pages. This revealed gaps in student preparation and potential parental oversight.
Based on these experiences, Governor Patel offered clear advice to parents. She urged them to actively visit their children’s schools. Engaging with teachers is crucial, she stated, to understand academic progress. Parents should motivate children to focus on studies and academic development.
Fair Evaluation Process
The Governor also focused on improving answer sheet evaluation. She emphasized evaluators must clearly mark all errors on the sheets. This allows students seeking re-evaluation to pinpoint shortcomings and learn.
Patel underscored the need for sensitive evaluation. She insisted the process must proceed with utmost care and accuracy. To reinforce this, she proposed financial penalties. These penalties would apply for demonstrably incorrect evaluations. This ensures evaluator accountability.
