The National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct the University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET) December 2025 from December 31 to January 7 . The NTA has issued important exam day instructions for all candidates appearing in the examination.
The UGC NET December 2025 examination covers a total of 85 subjects. Exam dates are December 31 , and January 2, 3, 5, 6, 7 .
Admit Card and Identity Proof
Candidates must bring a printed copy of the UGC-NET December 2025 admit card. All pages of the admit card are required. A valid original photo identity proof must also be carried.
Entry to the exam centre is allowed only as per the reporting time on the admit card. Late entry will not be permitted under any circumstances.
Exam Schedule and Duration
The UGC NET examination lasts three hours. It is conducted in two shifts each day.

Compensatory Time for PwD/PwBD Candidates
Persons with Disabilities (PwD) and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) candidates with 40% or more disability receive compensatory time. They will get 20 minutes extra per hour of the exam. Scribe facilities are provided as per NTA norms.
Verify Question Paper
Candidates must verify the question paper matches their opted subject. This information is available on their admit card. Any mismatch must be immediately reported to examination authorities.
Permitted and Prohibited Items
Only limited items are allowed inside the exam hall. Strict rules apply to maintain exam integrity.
Items Allowed:
- Transparent water bottle
- Printed admit card (all pages)
- Passport-size photographs
- Valid original photo identity card
Items Strictly Prohibited:
- Electronic devices
- Mobile phones
- Thick-soled footwear
- Garments with large buttons
Before Entering the Exam Hall
Candidates must complete the self-declaration or undertaking printed on their admit card in advance. They must paste their photograph in the designated space. A clear left-hand thumb impression is also required before arriving at the exam centre.
