UGC National Scholarship 2024-25: Merit List & Application Details

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has announced the merit list for its National Scholarship for Post Graduate Studies for the academic year 2024-25. Concurrently, applications for the next scholarship cycle remain open until November 15, 2025 . This scholarship provides a monthly grant of Rs 15,000 to 10,000 selected postgraduate students across India.

The provisional merit list for 2024-25 includes 10,000 PG students. This total comprises 5,000 students from humanities and social sciences streams, and 5,000 students from science streams. The released list specifies each student’s application ID, name, institution, and chosen course.

Selected students receive a grant of Rs 15,000 per month. This payment is issued for 10 months in a year. The scholarship supports students pursuing full-time postgraduate degree programs within India, under the scheme named ‘National Scholarship for Post Graduate Studies’.

Students eligible for the National Scholarship can apply online. The official application portal isscholarships.gov.in. The deadline for student applications is November 15, 2025 . Institutions must complete their verification of applications by November 30, 2025 .

Eligibility Requirements

The scholarship targets students pursuing their first postgraduate degree program. Candidates who already hold a PG degree are not eligible to apply. Applicants must have secured admission to an eligible university or college postgraduate program.

  • Age Limit: Applicants must be under 30 years of age as of the date of admission to the first semester or year of their PG program.
  • Program Type: Only full-time or regular PG students qualify for the scholarship. Students enrolled in open, distance, or private mode programs are not eligible for the grant.
  • Integrated Programs: For integrated PG programs, the scholarship grant applies only to the postgraduate component of the course.
  • Women’s Slots: Slots reserved for women students are first filled by single, twin, or fraternal girl children. Their undergraduate examination marks are not considered for these initial selections. Remaining slots are filled based on merit.
