Students should verify institutional recognition with the UGC. Institutions not listed under the UGC Act cannot award valid degrees.

Delhi has the highest number of fake institutions with 12 entities . These universities mislead students by offering unapproved degrees, risking academic and career progress.

Other States with Fake Institutions
Fake universities are also present in Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, West Bengal, Puducherry, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka. The UGC specifically warned about the Global Human Peace University in Karnataka, stating it is not authorised to operate.
New states like Haryana, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, and Arunachal Pradesh now also have unrecognised institutions.
