UGC Directs SWAYAM Course Mapping for July 2026

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has instructed higher education institutions nationwide to conduct a demand-based assessment of SWAYAM online courses. This evaluation is for the July 2026 semester. The UGC seeks to align course offerings with university needs.

Institutions must submit their findings through the UGC mapping portal, eseva.ugc.ac.in/swayammapping. The deadline for submissions is March 10 .

SWAYAM Course Mapping Exercise

Universities are tasked with comparing their existing curricula against the list of available SWAYAM courses. This review aims to identify curriculum gaps and specific course requirements for the upcoming semester. The information will help SWAYAM national coordinators plan future course development.

Institutions must provide data on several parameters. These include the percentage of SWAYAM courses matching their curriculum. They must also specify credit requirements and preferred languages of instruction. The course level (undergraduate or postgraduate) and discipline are required. Institutions should also identify whether specific SWAYAM courses need to be re-offered. Finally, they must list courses needed but not currently available on the SWAYAM platform.

The collected data from all institutions will be shared with SWAYAM national coordinators. These coordinators will then develop, update, or re-run relevant courses for the July 2026 semester.
