Understanding the UCEED and CEED 2026 Exam Structure

Each UCEED and CEED 2026 examination is designed to assess different facets of a candidate’s aptitude for design. Both exams are scored out of a total of 300 marks and are divided into two distinct parts: Part A and Part B.

Part A: Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills

Part A is a computer-based section, allocated one hour for completion. This segment focuses on objective assessment, incorporating Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions and Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). It evaluates a candidate’s general knowledge, logical reasoning, and visual-spatial abilities relevant to design thinking.

Part B: Creativity and Design Aptitude

Part B is a pen-and-paper based section, with a duration of two hours . This part directly assesses a candidate’s sketching abilities, creative visualization, and problem-solving skills through design-oriented tasks. It typically involves questions requiring candidates to draw, illustrate, or develop conceptual solutions to given scenarios.

Pathways to Design Education: UCEED and CEED

These entrance examinations are critical gateways for students aiming for careers in design. UCEED specifically facilitates admission into Bachelor of Design (BDes) programs, foundational courses for undergraduates. CEED, on the other hand, is for advanced studies, admitting candidates into Master of Design (MDes) and PhD programs across various design specializations.

A BDes degree provides a broad foundation in design principles, methodologies, and various design disciplines like product design, communication design, and interaction design. MDes and PhD programs offer specialized, in-depth study and research opportunities for those seeking advanced expertise or careers in academia.
