Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has ordered the introduction of Artificial Intelligence (AI) education in schools starting from the current academic year. The directive came during a meeting with officials on Thursday. The Chief Minister also called for immediate AI-based courses in polytechnic colleges and Advanced Technology Centres (ATCs).
AI Education Rollout
Officials are tasked with developing short-term training programs for teachers and lecturers. This initiative aims to equip educators with the knowledge to teach AI. The goal is to enhance students’ AI skills in response to AI’s growing global significance.
Technical Education Upgrades
AI-based courses will replace outdated programs in polytechnic colleges and ATCs. Students completing these new courses will be prepared for immediate employment. The Chief Minister emphasized this direct link between education and job opportunities.
New Public Schools Planned
The state will establish 100 ‘Telangana Public Schools ‘ in assembly constituencies outside Hyderabad. These schools will open next academic year. They will feature playgrounds, qualified staff, modern classrooms, and transport.
The Chief Minister also ordered the construction of 12 government schools in Hyderabad’s Core Urban Region Economy (CURE) area. These schools will mirror facilities found in corporate institutions, including those at Jubilee Hills Public School.
Breakfast Scheme Expansion
Plans are underway to implement a breakfast program in all government schools. This initiative is slated to begin in the 2026-27 academic year . Milk will be provided to all students, sourced from government dairy. Technology will monitor student nutritional intake.
Private School Fee Regulation
The Telangana Private Schools Fee Regulatory Monitoring Commission submitted its report on fee regulation. The Chief Minister stated a committee will finalize fee structures. This committee will be led by a retired judge or chief secretary. Draft fee structures will be made public for feedback.
The Telangana Education Commission Chairman submitted a report on the state’s education policy. Government Advisor Keshav Rao will prepare an implementation report.
