SWAYAM Exam Centres Reallocated for 14,700 TN BEd Students

Nearly 14,700 BEd students in Tamil Nadu received new SWAYAM exam centre allocations within their home districts. This reallocation follows concerns raised over distant initial allotments, with some students assigned centres hundreds of kilometers away in neighboring states. DMK Rajya Sabha MP P Wilson confirmed the resolution after urging Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct the Study Webs of Active Learning for Young Aspiring Minds (SWAYAM) July semester exams from December 15 to 18 . Admit cards for all registered students were issued on December 8 via exams.nta.nic.in/swayam.

Immediately after admit card release, many Tamil Nadu candidates reported problematic centre assignments. Some students from Thanjavur, for example, received centres in Kerala, approximately 388 km from their district. Other candidates were allocated centres in Karnataka.

Intervention and Resolution

The issue affected 14,700 BEd students, representing approximately 91.9% of the 16,000 total candidates. Following representations from students and instructions from Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, DMK MP P Wilson met with Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on December 9 . Wilson formally submitted a letter requesting centre changes.

The NTA reviewed the grievances and reallocated exam centres. Out of 16,000 BEd students, 14,700 now have examination centres within their respective districts. An additional 1,300 candidates have been assigned centres in nearby districts located in neighboring states.

MP P Wilson announced the resolution on X, stating, “Pursuant to the instructions of Hon’ble CM MK Stalin, the representation I submitted to change the SWAYAM examination centres for B.Ed students to Hon’ble Union Minister @dpradhanbjp has been accepted, and the Hon’ble Union Minister has issued orders.”

What Students Should Do

Students affected by the reallocation should check the NTA website for updated admit cards and confirm their new examination centre details. The SWAYAM July semester exams proceed as scheduled from December 15 to 18 .
