Two individuals have been arrested in Dehradun for their alleged involvement in a gang that facilitated cheating during the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) recruitment examination. The arrests were made on Friday by a joint team of the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) Meerut unit and the Uttarakhand Special Task Force.
Gang Busted in SSC MTS Exam Cheating Scandal
The arrested suspects are Nitish Kumar from Deoria, Uttar Pradesh, and Bhaskar Naithani from Dehradun, Uttarakhand. Police apprehended them in the Kotwali police station area. This operation targeted a ring accused of corrupting the examination process.
Methods of Cheating Revealed
According to Brijesh Kumar Singh, Additional Superintendent of Police for the UP STF Meerut unit, the gang is believed to have used computer hacking. They allegedly targeted the Mahadev Digital Zone examination centre. This centre was used for the SSC MTS recruitment examination. The examination was administered by an entity named Eduquity company.
Investigators revealed the gang’s alleged methods. They reportedly provided unauthorized assistance to candidates. This was achieved through remote computer access. The gang also allegedly set up local networking and proxy servers. These actions aimed to compromise exam integrity.
Evidence Recovered
Authorities seized several items during the arrests. Recovered items include four mobile phones, two laptops, and an internet router. These devices are expected to aid the ongoing investigation.
Investigation Continues
Police stated that their investigation is ongoing. They are actively looking into the involvement of other individuals connected to the gang. The STF is working to identify all members of the cheating operation.
