Punjab E-Sanad: Fast PSEB Certificate Verification Online

CHANDIGARH: The Punjab Government launched its “E-Sanad” digital platform on Monday, introducing a fully online system for verifying and authenticating educational documents. This initiative directly benefits current and former students of the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB). The new platform replaces a manual, time-consuming process, significantly reducing the verification time for certificates from an average of 40-45 days to just a few days.

The launch marks a significant step towards modernizing government services and improving student access to essential document verification. Previously, students faced long queues, extensive paperwork, and weeks of waiting to get their mark-sheets and certificates verified. E-Sanad eliminates these challenges, providing a paperless, efficient, and transparent solution for thousands of students annually.

Streamlining Document Verification

Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains confirmed that E-Sanad is available to all individuals requiring verification of PSEB-issued mark-sheets and certificates. This includes alumni and current students preparing for higher education, employment, or immigration purposes. The service covers a wide range of official documents issued by the board.

The verification process through E-Sanad involves two primary steps. First, the Punjab School Education Board digitally verifies the submitted documents. Second, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) then authenticates these digitally verified documents. This robust, two-tier system ensures the integrity and global acceptance of the verified certificates.

International Recognition and Apostille

A key feature of E-Sanad is its compliance with international document authentication standards, vital for students pursuing opportunities abroad. The platform covers both Hague Convention countries and non-Hague countries.

For countries signatory to the Hague Convention of 1961, documents receive an Apostille certificate. This single certificate, issued by a competent authority in the document’s origin country, authenticates the official’s signature for use in other member countries. It replaces the often lengthy and complex traditional embassy legalization process. This simplifies and speeds up the acceptance of PSEB documents internationally.

For non-Hague countries, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) provides direct attestation. If specific destination countries require it, embassy attestation can also be facilitated through the E-Sanad system. This comprehensive coverage ensures that PSEB certificates are recognized globally, regardless of the destination country’s specific requirements.

Operational Ease and Accessibility

PSEB Chairman Dr. Amarpal Singh emphasized the user-friendly nature of the new platform. “The process is fully online and paperless,” Dr. Singh stated. “Applicants do not need to visit the PSEB office.” This removes geographic barriers and reduces the logistical burden on students and their families.

The official PSEB website,www.pseb.ac.in, serves as the central hub for E-Sanad. It provides the direct portal link, an integrated online payment gateway, and clear, step-by-step instructions for submitting verification requests. This ensures that students can easily navigate the process from any location with internet access.

Key Advantages of E-Sanad

  • Reduced Processing Time: Verification now takes “a few days” compared to 40-45 days previously.
  • Elimination of Paperwork: The entire process is digital, removing the need for physical documents and application forms.
  • No Physical Visits: Students no longer need to travel to PSEB offices, saving time and money.
  • Enhanced Credibility: Digital verification by PSEB and authentication by MEA boosts the global acceptance of certificates.
  • Greater Transparency: Online tracking and clear processes improve accountability.
  • Convenience: Access to the service is available 24/7 from anywhere with internet connectivity.

Future Impact

This digital initiative aligns with Punjab’s broader efforts to modernize its administrative systems and improve service delivery for its citizens. By leveraging technology, the government aims to enhance efficiency and transparency across various sectors. E-Sanad sets a precedent for how digital solutions can transform education-related services, making them more accessible and user-friendly for young adults navigating their academic and professional futures. The system’s ability to expedite verification will prove crucial for students meeting university application deadlines, securing job offers, or pursuing international education and employment.
