Project Veer Gatha 5.0: 1.93 Cr Students Participate, 100 Winners

Project Veer Gatha 5.0 has concluded its student participation phase. Over 1.93 crore students from 36 states and Union Territories took part. The initiative aims to honor the valor and sacrifice of India’s armed forces. One hundred national winners will now be selected, each receiving a cash prize of Rs 10,000 .

Student Engagement

The fifth edition of Project Veer Gatha attracted widespread student involvement. More than 1.93 crore students participated across the country. They represented 36 states and Union Territories. Students submitted creative entries in multiple formats. These included original poems, visual paintings, detailed essays, and informative videos. All submissions focused on commemorating the bravery and sacrifices of armed forces personnel.

Selection Process and Awards

One hundred national winners will be chosen under Project Veer Gatha 5.0. The selection process aligns with the 5+3+3+4 curricular structure. It also follows guidelines set by the National Education Policy 2020 (NEP 2020) .

Twenty-five winners will be identified from the preparatory educational stage. An additional 25 winners will be selected from the middle stage. Furthermore, 25 winners will emerge from the secondary stage, which includes students from classes 9 to 12. Each of these 100 national winners will be awarded a cash prize of Rs 10,000 .

The project also recognizes a significant number of participants at district and state levels for their contributions. These winners will be felicitated by their respective local administrations:

Project Purpose

The primary goal of Project Veer Gatha is to inspire students. It aims to disseminate the life stories of gallantry awardees. The project fosters a spirit of patriotism among young learners. It highlights the heroic actions of individuals honored with gallantry awards. This initiative supports the vision of NEP 2020 . The policy emphasizes experiential and project-based learning methods. It promotes active engagement over traditional rote memorization.

Program Timeline and Activities

Schools actively conducted various projects and activities for Project Veer Gatha 5.0. These activities took place from September 8 to November 10 . Following the conclusion, schools uploaded their four best entries onto the MyGov portal.

Concurrently, the Ministry of Defence played a vital role. Through its field organizations of the Army, Navy, and Air Force, it organized awareness sessions. These sessions included virtual meetings and face-to-face interactions. They aimed to expand students’ knowledge of India’s gallant heroes and their untold stories across the country.
