Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the temporary campus of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Guwahati and a National Data Centre (NDC) for the Northeast region on Saturday.
IIM Guwahati Launches Operations
The establishment of IIM Guwahati was approved last year. This marks the second IIM in the Northeast and the 22nd nationwide. The first IIM in the region is located in Shillong. The new institute aims to boost higher education and management studies in the northeastern states.
National Data Centre for Northeast
The National Data Centre, situated at Amingaon in Assam’s Kamrup district, was also virtually inaugurated by the Prime Minister. This facility will house mission-critical government applications. It will also serve as a disaster recovery centre for other national data centres. The centre has a sanctioned load of 8.5 MW and an average rack capacity of 10 kW per rack.
Electric Bus Flag-Off
Prime Minister Modi also flagged off 225 electric buses . These buses are part of the PM-eBus Sewa Scheme. Guwahati received 100 buses. Nagpur and Bhavnagar each received 50 buses. Chandigarh received 25 buses.
