A 26-year-old postgraduate medical student died under suspicious circumstances in Vijayawada early on Thursday, March 7 . The student, identified as B Deepika, developed severe stomach pain and vomiting. She was a third-year student in the anesthesiology department at a government medical college. Deepika was a native of Ananthapur district.
Incident Details
Police report that Deepika complained of uneasiness after eating egg fried rice for dinner on Wednesday night. She shared the meal with a junior student. Around midnight, she began experiencing stomach pain and vomiting. Her junior administered an injection for relief.
Shortly after, the junior student found Deepika lying unconscious on a table. She was immediately transferred to the intensive care unit (ICU). Doctors initiated treatment, including saline and a CT scan, in the early hours of Thursday.
Death and Investigation
Despite medical intervention, Deepika was declared dead around 6 a.m. on Thursday . The precise cause of death is pending the results of a post-mortem examination. Police have registered a case. An investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death is underway.
