Odisha CM Inaugurates Medical College, Rs 446 Cr Projects in Nabarangpur

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi laid the foundation stone for a new government medical college and hospital in Nabarangpur on Friday. He also launched 177 development projects valued at over Rs 446 crore for the district.

New Medical College for Nabarangpur

The upcoming medical college and hospital will offer 100 MBBS seats and 420 beds. Chief Minister Majhi stated this facility will meet the long-standing healthcare needs of Nabarangpur residents. Previously, individuals traveled to cities like Cuttack, Vishakhapatnam, and Raipur for advanced medical treatment.

The medical facility will be built on more than 50 acres in Patalguda. According to the Chief Minister, this will provide modern medical services within the district. He noted that his government has established three new medical colleges in Jajpur, Kandhamal, and Talcher within 20 months. The government plans to open four more medical colleges, with foundation stones already laid in Nabarangpur and upcoming ones in Dhenkanal, Jagatsinghpur, and Bhadrak.

Rs 446 Crore Projects Launched

The 177 projects launched encompass various sectors, including education, healthcare, infrastructure, and community services. Of these, 112 projects worth Rs 68 crore have been inaugurated. The remaining 65 projects, valued at Rs 378 crore, had their foundation stones laid.

These projects aim to accelerate Nabarangpur’s development. Chief Minister Majhi assured that the district’s progress remains a priority, despite its distance from the state capital, Bhubaneswar. Health and Family Welfare Minister Mukesh Mahaling highlighted the significant expansion of medical colleges in the state. He mentioned that Odisha had only three government medical colleges three decades ago. The current government aims to establish medical colleges in all districts and ensure consistent doctor availability.

The event was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida, Minister Nityanand Gand, Nabarangpur MP Balabhadra Majhi, Rajya Sabha MP Muzibulla Khan, and other officials.
