The Union government has confirmed that no paper leaks occurred in recruitment exams conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) over the past five years. Union Minister of State Jitendra Singh provided this information in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday.
No Leaks Reported in UPSC, SSC Exams
Minister Singh responded to a question posed by Member of Parliament Manoj Kumar Jha. Jha had requested details on examination leaks in the last five years. He also sought information on states with the most leaks and specifics of those incidents.
Singh stated in a written reply that recruitment for central government positions through UPSC and SSC has remained free of exam paper leaks for the last five years. Both commissions operate under the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions.
Background of the Inquiry
The inquiry followed concerns about the integrity of public service examinations. Jha’s question aimed to gather data on past leak incidents and identify any patterns or hotspots.
The government’s response indicates a clean record for these major recruitment bodies. This addresses potential public apprehension regarding exam fairness.
UPSC and SSC Roles
The UPSC conducts examinations for All India Services and central services. The SSC recruits for Group B and C posts in various ministries and departments. These examinations are critical pathways for entry into government service.
The Minister’s confirmation is based on official records maintained by the Department of Personnel and Training.
