The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) has opened registration for its Class 10th and 12th public examinations scheduled for March-April 2026. Students can apply online starting today, November 21 . The initial registration window, allowing applications without a late fee, closes on December 20, 2024 .
Interested candidates must complete their registration through the official NIOS website,sdmis.nios.ac.in. This applies to students enrolled in Stream-I, Block-I for the March-April 2026 exams. It also includes candidates who appeared in public examinations before September-October 2025.
Registration Deadlines and Fees
NIOS has set specific deadlines for registration, including periods for late fee payments. Students must adhere to these dates to ensure their participation in the upcoming examinations.

After the initial no-late-fee period, a late fee of Rs 150 will apply for registrations submitted between December 21 and December 31 . A consolidated late fee of Rs 1,600 will be charged for registrations from January 1 to January 10, 2025 .
Important Eligibility Rules
As per NIOS guidelines, students must observe a compulsory two-year gap between the block/session and the year of passing their secondary examination. This rule applies to obtaining a passing certificate from NIOS.
However, students who do not meet this two-year gap requirement can still register for a limited number of subjects. These candidates may register for a maximum of four subjects. This includes any subjects for which they have already qualified for the March-April 2026 examinations.

The registration process is entirely online. Students must visit the NIOS official portal,sdmis.nios.ac.in. Navigate to the examination/admission section for public exams. Candidates should select their desired subjects carefully.
