New Delhi – The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has extended the deadline for NEET UG Counselling Round 3 choice filling and locking. Candidates now have until October 18, 2025, at 11:55 PM to submit their preferred course and college selections. This extension follows the addition of 147 new MBBS seats to the counselling matrix.
The choice locking window will open on October 18, 2025 , from 4 PM to 11:55 PM . This adjustment also impacts the seat allotment result, originally scheduled for October 18, which is now expected to be released on October 19, 2025 , pending further notification from the MCC.
Counselling Schedule Revised
The MCC, operating under the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), announced the revised schedule due to the late integration of additional medical seats. The previous deadline for choice filling was October 16, 2025. The 147 new seats were officially added to the seat matrix on October 17, 2025, prompting the extension to ensure all eligible students have adequate time to review and update their choices.
MCC stated, “The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) of DGHS has received information dated 16.10.2025 from following Institutes to ADD, the following seats (List enclosed below) in the seat matrix of Round-3 of UG Counselling 2025. The seats mentioned below have been ADDED in the Seat Matrix of Round-3 of UG Counselling 2025. Candidates can now exercise Choice Filling for the below mentioned seats.”
New MBBS Seats Added
A total of 147 new MBBS seats have been integrated into the Round 3 seat matrix for NEET UG Counselling. These seats are distributed across seven medical institutions located in six Indian states. The states where these additional opportunities are available include:
- Assam
- Jharkhand
- Jammu & Kashmir
- Karnataka
- Uttar Pradesh
- West Bengal
The inclusion of these seats expands the pool of available positions, offering more candidates a chance for admission to undergraduate medical programs. Students must review the updated seat matrix published on the MCC website before finalizing their selections to consider these new options.
Understanding NEET UG Counselling Process
NEET UG counselling facilitates admissions to MBBS and BDS courses offered by various medical and dental colleges nationwide. The process is managed centrally by the MCC and involves distinct stages that students must complete to secure a seat.
Key Stages for Candidates:
- Choice Filling: During this period, registered candidates access the online portal and select their preferred medical colleges and courses. These choices are ranked in order of priority based on the student’s aspirations and eligibility.
- Choice Locking: After making selections, candidates must lock their choices within the specified window. Once choices are locked, no further modifications can be made. If a candidate fails to manually lock their choices, the system automatically locks the last saved choices at the closing deadline.
- Seat Allotment: The MCC processes all locked choices, assigning seats based on factors such as the candidate’s NEET UG rank, chosen preferences, reservation category, and the availability of seats. The results are then published online.
Result Postponement and Candidate Action
The Round 3 seat allotment result, initially slated for October 18, 2025 , has been postponed. It is now provisionally expected on October 19, 2025 . Candidates should regularly monitor the official MCC website, mcc.nic.in, for the definitive announcement and subsequent instructions regarding reporting to their allotted institutions.
Candidates who have already submitted and locked their choices should revisit the updated seat matrix on the MCC portal. They have the option to modify their selections during the extended choice filling period if the newly added seats align with their preferences. Adherence to these revised deadlines is essential for all participants in the counselling process.
