The National Testing Agency (NTA) has directed all National Eligibility cum Entrance Test-Undergraduate (NEET UG 2026) candidates to update their Aadhaar, UDID, and category certificates. These updates must be completed before the registration window opens for NEET UG 2026. This action aims to prevent application discrepancies, grievances, or rejection later in the application process.
NTA will announce the NEET UG 2026 application and examination dates soon. Official updates will be available on neet.nta.nic.in.
NEET UG Exam Overview
The NEET entrance exam has historically taken place in early May. For the past three academic years, NTA conducted the exam in May. Last year, the NEET UG exam occurred on May 4 , spanning 552 cities across India and 14 international cities.
According to the National Medical Commission (NMC), a total of 11,276 new MBBS seats have been added this year. This brings the total count to 1,29,026 MBBS seats available for admissions. Karnataka holds the highest number of MBBS seats in India with 13,944 , followed by Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh.
Required Document Updates
Candidates must ensure all information on their Aadhaar card is accurate and current. This includes several key personal details:
- Name
- Date of Birth
- Gender
- Photograph
- Address
- Biometric Information (where applicable)
Any corrections or updates to Aadhaar details must follow UIDAI guidelines. Candidates can visit the official UIDAI websites at myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in or uidai.gov.in for Aadhaar-related services.
For candidates with disabilities, the UDID Card (Unique Disability ID Card) must be valid, updated, and renewed as needed. Similarly, all category certificates, including those for Economically Weaker Section (EWS), Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Other Backward Classes-Non-Creamy Layer (OBC-NCL), require current validity.
