NEET PG 2025: MCC Adds 135 Seats, 218 NRI Conversions

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has announced the addition of 135 new postgraduate medical seats for NEET PG 2025 Round 2 counselling. This latest increase brings the total number of available seats for this round to 32,215 . These new opportunities come in addition to 2,620 seats previously added during earlier phases of the counselling process. Separately, the MCC has also released a list of 218 candidates provisionally converted from the Indian to the Non-Resident Indian (NRI) category for the same Round 2 counselling.

Significant Expansion in Postgraduate Medical Seats

The newly approved seats are distributed across various states, expanding options for medical graduates seeking postgraduate specializations. West Bengal saw the most substantial increase, with 46 new seats allocated to North Bengal Medical College. Madhya Pradesh received the second-highest addition, gaining 20 new seats . These were distributed among Government Medical College, Shivpuri (6 seats); Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College, Indore (2 seats); and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Medical College, Jabalpur (12 seats).

Maharashtra added 10 seats , all at Government Medical College, Nandurbar. In Karnataka, Haveri Institute of Medical Sciences received approval for 7 additional seats . Other states also benefited from the new allocations. Punjab gained 12 seats , split between Guru Gobind Singh Medical College (4 seats) and Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, New Chandigarh (8 seats). Telangana added 10 seats , with Government Medical College, Ramagundam (8 seats) and Nizams Institute of Medical Sciences (2 seats) being the beneficiaries. Uttar Pradesh received 14 seats across three institutions: Autonomous State Medical College, Siddharthnagar (3 seats); Government Medical College Fatehpur (5 seats); and Umanath Singh Autonomous State Medical College, Jaunpur (6 seats). Finally, Assam saw an increase of 3 seats at Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College.

NEET PG 2025 Round 2 Choice Filling Concludes

The Medical Counselling Committee had extended the choice filling deadline for NEET PG 2025 Round 2 counselling to December 12 . Candidates were required to submit their preferred choices for postgraduate medical seats through the official MCC website,mcc.nic.in, by 4 PM on the specified date. This process is crucial for seat allotment in the current counselling round.

Provisional NRI Category Conversion Announced

A list of 218 candidates has been provisionally approved for conversion from the Indian to the NRI category for NEET PG 2025 Round 2 counselling. This provisional status was granted following a rigorous scrutiny of documents submitted by the applicants. The MCC emphasized that this conversion is not final until full verification. Candidates must present all original supporting documents at their allotted medical college during the reporting phase. Failure to furnish valid original documents will result in the cancellation of admission by the college. Only candidates whose names and roll numbers are explicitly included in the official NRI eligibility list for Round 2 will be able to view and select choices designated under the NRI quota.
