NEET PG 2025: 125 New MD/MS Seats Approved, Cut-offs Down

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has approved 125 new MD and MS postgraduate medical seats for the MCC NEET PG 2025 counselling Round 3. This approval follows a significant reduction in qualifying percentiles by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS). More candidates are now eligible for admissions. Candidates must note that choice filling for Round 3 begins on January 16, 2025 .

New Seats and Revised Cut-offs

The NMC granted approval for the 125 new MD and MS seats after its first appeal committee meeting. These additional seats expand opportunities for medical graduates seeking postgraduate specializations. The Letters of Permission (LOPs) for these sanctioned seats for the academic year 2025-26 will be issued soon. However, counselling authorities will include these seats in the process without waiting for the LOPs, as stated in the official NMC notice.

The NBEMS recently revised the NEET PG 2025 cut-offs. The general category cut-off was reduced from the 50th to the 7th percentile . For other categories, including SC, ST, and OBC, the cut-off was lowered from the 40th percentile. This change allows a broader pool of candidates to qualify for Round 3 counselling.
