MKITM & IGNOU Launch Tourism & Hospitality Courses

Manyavar Kanshiram Institute of Tourism Management (MKITM) and Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) are offering new certificate and postgraduate diploma courses in tourism and hospitality. The programs are available through Open and Distance Learning (ODL) for flexible study.

Course Offerings and Application Deadline

Students can apply for these courses until February 28 . Applications are processed through the official websites: mkitm.com and ignou.ac.in.

Certificate Programs

Three certificate courses are jointly offered. These include:

  • Certificate in Front Office Operations (CFO)
  • Certificate in Food and Beverage Service Operations (CFBO)
  • Certificate in Housekeeping Operations (CHO)

Eligibility for certificate programs requires a Class 12 pass. The courses are offered in Hindi and English. Each program lasts six months and carries 18 credits.

The fee for each certificate program is Rs 3,000. An additional one-time registration fee of Rs 400 is required. Certificate courses include two months of theory training and four months of industrial training.

Postgraduate Diploma

The Post Graduate Diploma in Hotel Operations (PGDHO) is also available. Applicants must have completed a bachelor’s degree to be eligible.

This diploma focuses on operations and management within the hotel industry. It is available in both English and Hindi, carrying 48 credits.

The PGDHO fee is Rs 9,000, plus the Rs 400 registration fee. The diploma includes four months of theory training and eight months of industrial training and internships.

Program Benefits

Jaiveer Singh, Minister of Tourism and Culture, Uttar Pradesh, stated the courses combine theoretical education with industrial training. These programs are designed for students who cannot attend regular classes. MKITM also provides optional residential facilities for students who pay hostel fees.
