The Maharashtra State Common Entrance Examination (CET) Cell has filled 92.31% of Bachelor of Education (BEd) seats for the 2025-26 academic year. This marks the highest admission rate for BEd programs in the state. Female students have secured the majority of these admissions for the third consecutive year.
A total of 36,698 BEd seats were offered across 483 colleges throughout Maharashtra. From these, 33,877 students successfully completed their enrollment. The admission cycle for the 2025-26 academic year commenced on June 25 and concluded on November 4 . This process involved four admission rounds, including a final institutional round.
Female Students Lead Enrollment
Female candidates accounted for 24,756 admitted students, representing 73.07% of all BEd admissions this year. This continues a trend observed over the past three academic years where female enrollment surpassed male admissions.
In the 2023-24 academic year, 22,327 female students enrolled, comprising 74.32% of the total admissions. The following year, 2024-25, saw 24,704 female students admitted, which was 74.72% of admissions. While the percentage this year saw a slight decrease, the absolute number of female students admitted remained high.
Centralized Admission Process and EWS Vacancies
The Centralized Admission Process (CAP) managed the distribution of most BEd seats. Of the 34,170 seats designated under CAP, 32,643 were successfully confirmed. This means 95.53% of the seats handled through CAP were filled.
The Economically Weaker Section (EWS) category reported many vacant seats. Out of 2,528 allocated EWS seats, only 1,180 were filled. This resulted in 1,380 seats remaining unoccupied. Thus, 46.67% of EWS seats were filled, with 53.33% remaining empty at the close of the admission period.
Rising Trend in Overall BEd Admissions
Official statistics from the Maharashtra CET Cell confirm a steady increase in the overall percentage of BEd admissions over the last three academic years.
| Academic Year | Colleges | Total Seats | Admitted Students | Percentage Admitted |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2023-24 | 469 | 34,240 | 30,038 | 87.73% |
| 2024-25 | 471 | 36,433 | 33,064 | 90.76% |
| 2025-26 | 483 | 36,698 | 33,877 | 92.31% |
The consistent rise in admissions and the sustained high enrollment of female students show the ongoing importance of BEd qualifications for aspiring teachers in Maharashtra.
