Maharashtra’s pharmacy colleges have 15,936 BPharm and 815 MPharm seats vacant. This follows the conclusion of admissions for the 2025-26 academic year today. Multiple counselling rounds failed to fill all available positions, Careers360 reported.
The high vacancy rate follows earlier compliance issues. The Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) banned admissions in 89 state pharmacy institutions in September. This ban resulted from non-compliance with PCI norms. Later, the PCI reversed the ban for 42 colleges after they met required standards.
Maharashtra’s Minister of Higher and Technical Education, Chandrakant Patil, had also warned of stopping CAP pharmacy admissions. This warning was issued if colleges failed to comply with PCI guidelines.
Despite high candidate participation, many seats remain empty. The final merit list included 52,666 candidates on the Maharashtra state list. An additional 55,116 candidates appeared on the All India merit list.
