King’s College London Scholarships for Indian Students 2026

King’s College London is offering scholarships for Indian postgraduate students for the third consecutive year. The university announced the continuation of its Vice-Chancellor’s Awards on Monday. This initiative aims to reduce the financial burden for students from India pursuing degrees with societal impact.

Scholarship Details

Up to 40 students from India will receive a £5,000 fee reduction . These awards are for full-time, on-campus postgraduate study starting in September 2026 . Students must hold an offer from King’s College London for a qualifying program.

Eligibility and Application

Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to using their acquired skills for societal benefit after graduation. They also need to show how they will maximize their academic and personal experience at King’s. Applications for the 2026 round are open now and close at the end of May .

Professor Kapur’s Statement

Professor Shitij Kapur, Vice-Chancellor and President of King’s College London, expressed pride in launching the third year of the awards. He noted his own experience pursuing postgraduate studies abroad after leaving Delhi. “We know that King’s can provide a unique experience for students with great passion and talent to thrive, and to go on to create truly remarkable positive impact in society,” Professor Kapur stated. He added, “Each year, we are inspired by our award recipients, and I look forward to welcoming the next award winners to King’s in September.”

The Vice-Chancellor’s Awards are open to students accepted into first on-campus postgraduate degrees within specific faculties. These include:

  • King’s Business School (KBS)
  • Life Sciences and Medicine (FoLSM)

  • Nursing, Midwifery and Palliative Care
  • Social Science and Public Policy (SSPP)

University Connection to India

King’s College London highlights its long-standing ties with India. The university was among the first in the UK to teach Sanskrit and Bengali. Notable alumni include activist Sarojini Naidu. Since its inception in 2024, the Vice-Chancellor’s Awards have supported 60 students.

Impact of the Award

Tilottama, a former recipient who studied Comparative Literature (MA), shared her experience. “Before receiving the Vice-Chancellor’s Award, I worried about fully engaging with postgraduate life beyond coursework. The award has given me clarity and confidence to pursue research and creative opportunities,” she said. She added, “My long-term goal is to work as a scholar-writer translating and amplifying underrepresented South Asian histories. This award has made those aspirations feel possible.”
