The ‘Red Flag’ category, established in 2014, is reserved for serious crimes against women. This includes rape and murder cases, requiring immediate attention and top investigative priority.

Arrests Made in Kendrapara School Case

Five individuals have been arrested in connection with the case. This includes four teachers from the private school, one of whom is a woman. A school peon was also arrested. Police apprehended the suspects on Saturday. The arrests followed separate complaints filed by the student’s father and the district child welfare committee. The complaints allege the teachers repeatedly sexually assaulted the 13-year-old student. A senior police officer confirmed the arrests were made based on preliminary investigation. Further investigation into the allegations is ongoing.

Child Welfare Committee Involvement

The district child welfare committee played a key role in bringing the matter to light. The committee conducted an initial investigation into the allegations. They then referred the case to the police for legal action. Committee member Swagatika Patra stated the complaint was lodged on February 18 . Following a 48-hour investigation, the case was sent to police.

The committee also directed the district education officer. They are to conduct a separate inquiry into the allegations. Inspector-in-charge of Rajkanika police station, Sanjay Mallick, confirmed the arrests were based on preliminary findings. He stated that the investigation continues.
