Srinagar schools reopened Monday for students in classes 9 through 12. The return follows more than two months of winter break. Classes for students in pre-primary through 8th grade will begin on March 2.

Winter Vacation Schedule

The government announced the winter vacation schedule in November. This schedule applies to both government and private schools across Kashmir. Students experienced varying vacation lengths based on their grade level.

Class-Specific Break Periods

Primary school students had the longest break. Their vacation ran from November 26, 2025, to February 28, 2026 . This period covered over three months.

Students in classes 1 through 8 returned to school after a break from December 1, 2025, to February 28, 2026. This also represents a significant period away from classrooms.

Older students faced a shorter vacation. Those in classes 9 through 12 were on break from December 11, 2025, to February 22, 2026. They were the first group to return to school.

School Reopening Details

Officials confirmed the reopening dates. The delayed start for younger students ensures all schools are operational. This phased reopening allows for smoother transitions.

The decision for a phased reopening was made by education authorities. They aim to manage the logistical challenges. This ensures educational continuity for all students.
