The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has revised the syllabi for four subjects for Classes 11 and 12. These changes will affect the academic year 2026-27. The syllabi for Classes 9 and 10 remain unchanged.
Syllabus Revisions Detailed
JKBOSE officials confirmed the syllabus updates apply to the upcoming annual examinations. Question papers will be prepared based on the revised syllabi for the affected subjects. This applies to both regular students and fresh private candidates.
The annual examinations for the Kashmir division and winter zone areas of Jammu will occur in October-November 2026 . For the summer zone areas of Jammu, examinations are scheduled for February-March 2027 .
Subject-Specific Changes
JKBOSE has updated the syllabi for the following subjects:
- Class 11: Punjabi, Physical Education
- Class 12: Education, Environmental Science
All other subjects will continue under their existing patterns. Syllabi for Classes 9 and 10 are unaffected for the 2025-26 academic year across all divisions.
Mandatory Curriculum Adherence for Schools
In a separate directive, JKBOSE has mandated that all affiliated private schools in the Jammu division must implement the JKBOSE curriculum and prescribed textbooks. Failure to comply may result in disciplinary action.
Schools must adhere to the curriculum and textbooks as stipulated by the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education Act 1975 and J-K School Education Rules, 2010. JKBOSE inspection teams will verify compliance.
Schools found prescribing or enforcing materials not published or approved by JKBOSE will face strict action. This may include penalties under JKBOSE disciplinary regulations.
